How to register a political party online: step by step
The online filing route for political party registration with the Election Commission of India, from portal registration to submission.
Step 1. Create the applicant account on the ECI portal
Register on the Election Commission's party registration portal using the applicant's mobile number and email, and verify both.
Step 2. Prepare digital copies of every document
Scan the constitution, resolution, affidavits and identity documents as legible PDFs within the portal's file-size limits.
Step 3. Complete the online Form PPR-1
Enter the party particulars in the online form, matching the constitution and affidavits exactly, and save each section before proceeding.
Step 4. Upload the annexures
Upload each annexure against its labelled slot and confirm that all uploads show as accepted before submission.
Step 5. Pay the fee online and submit
Pay the ₹10,000 processing fee through the portal's payment gateway and submit the application to generate the reference number.
Step 6. Track the application status
Use the reference number to monitor scrutiny, respond to queries within the stated deadline, and download the registration order once issued.
