How to Check Political Party Registration Status
There are two different questions behind “registration status”: whether a pending Section 29A application has moved, and whether a party already appears on the Election Commission of India's list of registered parties. They are checked in different places, and this page covers both.

Checking the status of a pending application
After Form PPR-1 is filed, the application moves through acknowledgement, scrutiny, the objection window and — where required — a hearing. Status is tracked against the file number on the acknowledgement, not against the party name.
Keep the acknowledgement
The acknowledgement or diary number issued when the application is received is what every later enquiry is keyed to. Without it, follow-ups are slow.
Online portal
Where the application was submitted through the Commission's online portal, the applicant login shows the current stage and any query raised.
Written follow-up
For applications filed physically, status is sought in writing from the Registrar of Political Parties, quoting the file number and date of filing.
Queries and defects
A query letter is not a rejection. It sets a reply period; missing it is the most common reason a file is closed rather than decided.

Confirming a party is already registered
A registered party appears on the Election Commission of India's published list of registered unrecognised political parties (RUPPs) alongside national and state parties, and its registration is notified in the Gazette of India.
ECI party list
The Commission publishes the list of national parties, state parties and RUPPs. A party absent from the current list is not registered, whatever documents it shows.
Gazette notification
The registration order and gazette notification are the primary proof of registration, and should be kept with the party's statutory records.
Delisting
Parties that stay inactive or fail to file contribution and account statements can be delisted, so an old listing is not proof of current status.

What a normal timeline looks like
For a complete application, four to six months from filing to registration order is normal. Roughly a month of that is the newspaper objection window, and the rest is scrutiny and, if fixed, a hearing. Status that has not changed for several months usually means an unanswered query, an affidavit shortfall after roll verification, or an objection to the party name — all of which are answerable, but none of which resolve on their own.

If your application has stalled
